On Thursday, March 30, Leonid Mikhelson the head of NOVATEK, Patrick Pujanne the head of Total, and Evgeny Kot, the director of Yamal LNG, checked the progress of the construction of the LNG plant. VELESSTROY management accompanied the delegation.
In conversation with Kresimir Filipovich, the first Vice-President of VELESSTROY, the head of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson noted the good pace of construction of the facility. In his turn, Kreshimir Filipovich assured that the first Train of the LNG plant will be put into commercial operation this year.
The heads of the companies arrived at the construction site on March 30th not by chance, on this day the first ice-class tanker of the Arctic class for transportation of liquefied natural gas "Christophe de Margerie" arrived to the port of Sabetta.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who took part in the videoconference dedicated to this event, called the call of this tanker a great event in the development of the Arctic. The Russian leader also drew attention to the fact that the ship, which has no analogues in the world, is named after the former head of Total Christophe de Margerie, who died on October 20, 2014 during a plane crash in Vnukovo.
