Velesstroy & Nornickel Execute Sulphur Unit Contract (Construction Work Package)

Nornickel solemnly signed a contract with Velesstroy for a range of construction services as part of its sulphuric acid neutralisation project at Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant. This is a new milestone of the Sulphur Project, Nornickel’s most ambitious initiative to achieve major environmental improvements. 

Sergey Dubovitsky, Senior Vice President, Head of Strategy and Strategic Project Management, Nornickel, and Alexei Pizanov, General Director, Velesstroy, signed the document. 

Also, during the solemn execution, Andrei Ambartsumyan, Vice President, Investment Project Management Office, and Andrei Sergeenkov, Sulphur Project Office Manager, as the Client, and Kresimir Filipovic, First Vice President, Predrag Jeftic, Sales Director, Deputy General Director, as the Contractor, took their part. 

Under the contract, Velesstroy will build a sulphuric acid storage, limestone reception and crushing facility, slaked lime production facility, and sulphuric acid neutralisation facility. 

In the sulphuric acid neutralisation facility, the contractor will install 24 units for slaked lime and sulphuric acid mixing to neutralise and transform sulphuric acid into harmless gypsum slurry. 

Velesstroy is also going to erect process pipe racks, lay pipelines and service lines. 

The scope of the contract includes the supply of equipment and materials, construction and installation, pre-commissioning, and comprehensive testing support.
